[Flash Report] Nikkei Stock Average reaches a new closing high, reaching 52,000 yen for the first time.

The Nikkei Stock Average closed at 52,411 yen on the Tokyo Stock Exchange today, 1,085 yen higher than yesterday. This is the first time in history that the closing price has reached the 52,000-yen level, and it is the third consecutive day that the highest price has been reached. The positive earnings results of U.S. high-tech companies, such as Apple Inc., led to buying of semiconductor-related stocks and others. The yen temporarily depreciated to 154 yen per dollar after the BOJ governor’s press conference yesterday, which was also a tailwind. A market insider commented, “The buying is fueled by expectations for earnings results and high-tech stocks, which will begin in earnest next week. The daily rally has also heightened a sense of overheating.
